'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1' on track to be highest earning in series

The fourth Twilight movie, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, is on track to be the biggest earner in the series so far, making $701.3 million at the box office since its release on November 18, Lionsgate announced today. Breaking Dawn will likely surpass the $709.8 million raked in by its predecessor, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

'Breaking Dawn -- Part 2' scene to premiere in Target stores on eve of 'Part 1' DVD release

This is certainly one way to get people to attend a release party. Target will extend store hours in nearly 500 stores across the country on Feb. 10 to host a DVD-Blu-ray event for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1, which hits shelves at midnight. Beginning at 11 p.m., fans will be treated to the exclusive world premiere of a scene from the fifth and final film, in theaters this November. The scene will not be available on Target’s exclusive Limited-Collector’s Edition DVD. That does, however, come with an authentic prop flower from Bella and Edward’s wedding scene.

For a while, Star Wars and Star Trek fans have feuded over which is the superior series of sci-fi/fantasy stories. Is it possible that they’ll ever agree? Maybe not when it comes to Star Wars and Star Trek, but it’s possible that a universal dislike of Twilight could be the thing that brings these two fandoms together. That seems to be what Trek’s George Takei is hoping for as he humorously petitions fans to lay down their figurative lightsabers and phasers and join forces against a common enemy.

Taylor Lautner Will Get Waxed at Madame Tussauds

Taylor Lautner is gonna get waxed.

Another "Twilight" star is set to get the wax statue treatment as a Taylor Lautner replica will be unveiled at Madame Tussauds London in January, according to the attraction's Official Site.

The announcement was made as part of the birthday celebration of the attraction's founder. Prime Minister David Cameron, David and Victoria Beckham, Helen Mirren, Russell Brand and even Queen Elizabeth herself joined a wax figure of Madame Marie Tussaud in a party scene to mark her 250th birthday on Dec. 1.

Now it seems even the makers of genuine items that have appeared on film may be restricted from using that screentime as a marketing asset in the US. Summit Entertainment – the studio behind the Twilight films – has successfully sued a clothing company which produces a jacket worn by Kristen Stewart in the popular vampire-themed romance saga.

‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part I’ Surpasses $500 Million In Global Box Office

If Summit Entertainment is actually serious about a merger or a sale, the company has the benefit of wheeling and dealing while it is at a high-water mark. Summit announced today that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1, flew past $500 million in global box office in just 12 days. The film is at $508 million today. It was released November 18 and single-handedly has brightened the overall box office picture. The film has generated $223 million domestic, making it one of only 12 films to reach $220 million in 10 days.
