Fox sets release date for 'Star Wars 3D'
Fox and Lucasfilm have arranged a valentine for Star Wars fans in 2012, with saga's first 3D-converted installment premiering Feb. 10. Conversions are being released annually in numerical order, so first up is Episode I: The Phantom Menace -- easily the least regarded of the six-part series. So far, there are no other 3D titles slated for that date, but that could change as studios are bolstering their springtime 3D pipelines.
An increased 3D screen count also will ease the trail for Phantom Menace. Most expect the 3D count by 2012 to amply sustain the amount of product. Apparently sensitive to criticism of recent 3D conversions, the studio said in a statement: "Supervised by Industrial Light & Magic, the meticulous conversion is being done with utmost respect for the source material, and with a keen eye for both technological considerations and artistic intentions."

wow can't wait
To all the Nay Sayers, The Force is not strong in you. Why not for a brief moment live in a fantasy world with star ships and laser cannons, light sabers and force powers. These movies should always come back around, if not for anything just to remind us what good movies are supposed to be. Which simply put, is Plain old FUN!! If your not going to see them, then don't write nonsense why you will not attend. These movies were "really not the droids you were looking for" lol. Pan handler Lucas is not, business genius a Jedi master he is. These movies are based on many ideologies, tastes and human whims. The inspirations from METROPOLIS, Valerian and Lauraline, too every religions positive ideals just goes to show these tales were well thought out. Heck they take on their own forms which is why Lucas might tinker with them. Go see these movies again nay sayers, because you haven't really watched if you can complain about them.
Im sure that 3D rendering wont be the only addition to the films. Perhaps they'll CGI Indiana Jones into the Jedi Counsel Scene or maybe a Howard the Duck & Yoda lightsaber battle. "NOoooooooo." Oh well, I bought the Blu-Rays and will probably still go see them in 3D. I'm sick like that.
Having seen this movie and the others in the Theater and multiple time on TV. I don't see myself really going to see these again in 3D. The problem...
THE STORY HASN'T CHANGED
I suppose if you never have seen the 1st 3 episodes, you might spend the cash to see these movies in 3D....or spend some cash to own the 3 movies.
If you want to see 3D then I suppose you'll pay to see this again.
At this point, I think this is Lucas' own version of panhandling. He simply throws the same films up and sticks his hand out, expecting you to fork over your cash. Personally, I'm not looking forward to getting a headache from the 3D (especially not when I already have one from the crappy dialogue).

WOW! I am never watching any movies again! I bet the movie industry will just die due to the lack of creativity now! Why aren't they making sequals? Now just re-runs? Trey Parker and Matt Stone were so right about Star Wars!
As a fan who's seen'm all multiple times, and was around in '77 (saw the original my senior year high school); I am not anticipating watching it unless the whole series is done in 3D. Then, it would be a completely updated experience.
"Supervised by Industrial Light & Magic"
They left out the part where the studio doing the conversion that is being supervised is the same company that did the Clash of the Titans 3D conversion. Hopefully the supervision helps.
hello gofobo, i cant wait ima stand n line 4 a verry long time oh yeah star wars is the best.....
Becaouse it's the first of the Star Wars films to rely heavily on CGI, they should be able do some amazing things in the 3D version.
I think the majority of fans would list Attack of the Clones as the 'least regarded.' Personally, I like Phantom Menace third best (despite its multitude of issues - primarily Jar Jar Binks).
Yeh what a waste! That whole year on movies was ruined because of that film. Clone Wars is not that good either! Thanks for ruining cartoon network!
This great news.. I look forward to a high quality product.
